Bonnie is our school dog. She is an Australian Labradoodle – a breed that was chosen especially for the role. Australian Labradoodles are a non-shedding breed so are suitable for those with allergies and asthma. They are known for being intuitive, intelligent, easily trained, excellent with small children and full of fun. Perfect for a school dog!

Bonnie was collected as a puppy from her breeder in Herefordshire in June 2020. She had her initial training at home with her family and at 5 months old she went for residential training at a specialist centre. After her training, she was gradually introduced to school life and she now happily spends every day at Widford.

In school, Bonnie has a cosy base in our learning enhancement room – Laura’s Lodge. However, she spends much of her time with the children in their classrooms, on the playground and in the pre-school. You will see her most mornings on the driveway welcoming the children with Miss Cole. Whilst she is in school, Bonnie is always with a trained adult and is kept on her lead. She is now a fully integrated member of the Widford team and is a very popular member of the Widford staff!
