Widford Lodge is a unique and special learning environment. We have been inspiring a love of learning in pupils between the ages of 2 ½ and 11 for over 80 years.
We value childhood as a crucial stage in life, a time when social and emotional development through friendship and play is as important as academic progress within the classroom. Each and every one of our pupils are important, and we cherish their individuality and work together to support their all-round wellbeing and progress.
Today we are proud to provide a caring, inclusive and diverse environment for our school community, offering a broad and balanced academic curriculum in a stimulating setting full of opportunities in which children can thrive.
Our vision is simple – to enable all of our children to flourish in a happy and nurturing environment. To achieve this, we have a strong sense of community amongst pupils, staff and parents; we empower pupils and staff so that children can fulfill their potential and develop into confident and curious learners. Our pupils are encouraged to support each other, working together and creating lasting friendships is at the heart of everything we do.
We promote traditional standards and values; caring for others, good manners, honesty, integrity, and respect and we celebrate pupils’ success. We provide opportunities for pupils to take part in a variety of sports, music and drama activities, to help care for our chickens and to spend time with our school dog, Bonnie. Trips and visitors enhance the pupils’ learning experiences and our extended opening hours of 8am to 5.30pm enable pupils to participate fully in all that we have to offer.
We are a Forest School and these activities enable our pupils to enjoy the stimulation of the outdoors and increase their self-belief, confidence, communication and problem solving skills.
Whether it’s working hard in the classroom, playing for their team or building fires in the woods, we strive to create rich experiences and memories.
