We recently had another special speaker Mr. Jagmohan Singh, on a return visit to the school. It was a testament to his previous visit with the Pre-Prep so many of the children remembered him and greeted him with waves and hellos when they saw him. In turn Mr. Singh shared how impressed he’d been with the school’s ethos during his last visit, particularly our Friday assembly during which we celebrated our pupils’ achievements.
In their R.E. lesson, he spoke to the Form 2 children about his life as a Sikh and his pilgrimage to the Golden Temple in Amritsar, India. He has been there every year of his life and described the gurdwara as the place he feels happiest on earth. Mrs Eggleton and Miss Kenton were really impressed with the quality of questions the children prepared and asked including him:
Where did the gold come from?
Did you work in the gurdwara kitchen?
Have you read from the Guru Granth Sahib (the Sikh scripture)?
What is best about being a Sikh?
Mr. Singh kept the children enthralled with his answers and positive energy. As well as describing his pilgrimage he also spoke about the importance of helping others in life and described how his community provide free meals to rough sleepers each weekend in Trafalgar Square. Form 2 would like to thank Mr. Singh for his visit and Mrs. Prince (Head of R.E.) for arranging the visit. We really enjoyed it.
