Recently the Prep school had the pleasure of hearing about the amazing adventure of a Widford Parent.
In September, Mr Walsh completed the Deloitte cycle challenge, riding from the rugged coastline of Cornwall to the rolling hills and valleys of the North of England, right up the barren majesty of the Scottish highlands.
Over 900 miles later, he had reached his destination. The children enjoyed listening to the ups and downs of the challenge and to Mr Walsh’s unbounded enthusiasm in cycling, with many keen to get on their own bikes afterwards. The talk was quickly followed by the first ever Widford Lodge Geography competition, with houses competing in various groups. The format covered a variety of geographical topics from questions on our planet, world locations, landmarks, capital cities and flags. In what was a keenly fought contest, it was the Romans who eventually won. All in all, it was a great afternoon and special thanks goes to all those who helped with the running of the competition, with a special thanks to Mr Walsh for kindly giving up his own time to share his adventure.
