Mrs Griggs and Mrs Heley, who represent The Little Edi Foundation – Shoebox appeal,  recently visited Widford to tell the children about the Shoebox appeal and to remind us that Christmas is just around the corner!

Please could we help them fill a shoe box with treats for a Moldovian child?

Mrs Griggs has been working with an orphanage in Moldovia; they are in an area where homes do not have electricity or running water.  Parents can’t find work and the children are often hungry and cold.

They gave us some hints as to what would be wonderful to find in the boxes: soap, face cloth, toothbrush, toothpaste, brush or comb, shampoo, gloves hats, socks, hair accessories, ball, small cuddly toys, crayons, pens, note books, marbles, junk jewellery, sweets, bubbles etc., of  course any item you think suitable will be great (no battery operated items).

Feel free to add a photograph, letter or card of your child for that personal touch.

All the boxes need to be filled and returned by Tuesday 6th November  and handed to the charity representatives in the Foyer.

We are going to try and build a Gift Wall in our Foyer! Our target is 150 boxes or more because that is how many we filled last year. When covering your shoe box in beautiful paper please remember to wrap the lid separately from the box. This is because the children will treasure their boxes and also so that customs can inspect the boxes.

Please stick on a label if the gift is for a boy or a girl and what age it is suitable for (3 to 7 or 7 to 11 years old).
