We recently held a Quiz Night to raise funds for Arise and Shine Children’s Home to replace their milking cow who had sadly died. Owning a cow allows the children to learn such skills as animal husbandry and also provide a source of milk for the care home.  The surplus is sold, providing a sustainable source of income to help with the cost of caring for the children and improving their lives.

Due to the high altitude location of the home, between 6000 and 8000 ft. on the vast Kenyan plains, it is preferable to find a relatively local cow, one which is already adapted to a life on high altitude pastures. When coupled with requiring the cow to be in excellent health, with a high milk yield, ‘shopping’ for one becomes more challenging. As of yet no suitable cow has been found but the search continues…

Thank you again for your generous donations and we will be sure to let you know once a new cow has been found by the home.
