Year 5 have been studying all about the Aztecs this term and to finish the topic in style, they were treated to a visit from Mexicolore!

Widford always looks forward to Mexicolore’s visit – they travel the length and breadth of the country teaching children about both Aztec and Mayan culture. The children were given the opportunity to play Aztec instruments,  play the oldest known ball game and dress up as Aztecs too! They learned how everything had symbolic meaning to the Aztecs; from the rain to tears and from numbers to colours.

We looked in detail at the Aztec  Sunstone … and are still in hot debate about who might be represented at it’s centre! Miss Kenton was so proud of the children and Ian, from Mexicolore, was very impressed with the questions they asked him on the Q and A session at the end.

A fascinating and memorable morning.
