Recently, we were delighted to welcome one of our parents, Mrs Ozturk, into Widford Lodge. She spoke to the Reception and Pre-Prep children about Ramadan and the festival of Eid.
The children were fascinated to learn about how Muslim adults fast for a month and their reasons for fasting. We saw a copy of the Quran with its Arabic text and listened to a call to prayer. We learned that the date of Eid changes each year and is determined by the moon. It was interesting to hear how Erva and Eymen celebrate Eid and the importance of giving to others at this special time. Erva and Eymen then presented the children in their classes with a gift.
